At Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic we are very proud of our team.
We would like to introduce you to our wonderful group of veterinarians and nurses.
 

  

Dr Tony Mellor

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Tony graduated from Queensland University in 1970.
After graduation Tony harnessed his skills as a small and large animal veterinarian.

Throughout Tony's extensive veterinary career, he has worked with a multitude of people, in many different places, and has worked with many different varieties of animals; ranging from water buffalo to ostriches.
Tony opened Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 1988.
Tony enjoys problem solving and all the medical challenges that this industy provides.
Hopes are still high that he will write his own book so that he may share his vast knowledge.
Whilst currently attempting retirement, Tony is always keen to assist; with his extensive knowledge base and skill set.


 


Dr Paul O'Connor

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Paul graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989.
Originally from South Australia, Paul brings his wealth of large animal experience to Kangaroo Flat, including his Q-Alpaca accreditation.
Paul is also accomplished at small animal surgery and is able to perform a variety of orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures.
Throughout his career, Paul has travelled the world and worked in such places as El Salvador, Ethiopia, England and all over Australia.
Paul and his family call Castlemaine their home, which they share with their cat, lovingly named Adelaide.


Dr Tori Jordan

Veterinarian (MA VetMB MRCVS)

Dr Tori graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2012.
Originally from a farm in Northern Ireland, Tori started out in mixed practice in Kent.  Following this, she began an 18 month internship at one of the largest equine hospitals in England.
After completing her internship, Tori made the big move to Australia, and spent 6 months at Bendigo Equine Hospital. However, she started to miss the variety and challenges of mixed practice and so moved to Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2016.
Tori has developed extensive experience in the equine field and is an approved veterinarian for the Australian Stud Book and is accredited to administer the Hendra vaccine. Although Tori has focused on the equine field, she is also accomplished at small animal medicine and surgery, as well as other large animal species. Tori is currently pursuing a keen interest in ophthalmology.


Dr Kara Frost

Veterinarian (BSc DVM)

Dr Kara graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2014.
Originally from Melbourne, Kara started at vet school in 2010, having wanted to be a vet her whole life.

Kara started working at Kangaroo Flat in 2014, just after graduating.
Her passion is for rabbits and other small mammals (Guinea Pigs, Ferrets etc.)
Kara is highly experienced with rabbits and has attended a rabbit-specific surgical course to further advance her skills.
Throughout her career, Kara has developed a keen interest in behavioural issues in a range of animal species and has begun to develop skills in ultrasonography.
Kara lives locally with her
 Labrador, Willow, a Japanese Harlequin Lop named Quinn, a Netherland Dwarf X named Benji and two cats - Millie & Spencer.


Dr Brianna Waterson

Veterinarian (BSc DVM)

Dr Brianna graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2016.
A Bendigo girl, Brianna has grown up surrounded by dogs, cats, a pony and alpacas and knew that she wanted to come back and work in the area.
We were lucky enough to have Brianna as a placement student whilst she was in vet school, and we knew then that she was going to be a part of the Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic team.
Brianna's goal is to get as much experience as she can in all aspects of mixed practice, and is looking forward to discovering what her niche will be.
Brianna lives locally with her newly adopted cat, Piper, which she acquired less than 2 months after starting here.. a new clinic record !


  

Megan Grigg

Veterinary Practice Manager (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Megan started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2000.
Originally from Echuca, Megan grew up on a hobby farm, which was home to a variety of animals, large and small.
Completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2004 through the Box Hill Institute of TAFE, Megan's interest was in emergency medicine and large animals.
Throughout her career, Megan has completed several emergency medicine courses and is currently studying her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing.
In 2011, Megan took the position of Clinic Manager, but she still enjoys getting her hands dirty.

 


Kayla Harris

Head Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Kayla started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2007, when she was just 15!
She graduated in 2013 from Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE.
Originally from Bendigo, Kayla had volunteered at several clinics when she was very young, eventually being offered a job here.
Kayla has worked hard to develop her extensive skill set in surgery and medicine over the years and is hoping to undertake a diploma in surgical nursing.
In 2016 Kayla was promoted to head veterinary nurse, a role which she is thoroughly enjoying.
Kayla lives locally with her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Billie & Baxter, and her three cats - Castiel, Maggie & Willow.

 


Rachael Hecker

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Rachael started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary clinic in 2014.
Returning to study after 20 years, to pursue her dream career, Rachael graduated in 2016 from Open Colleges.

Originally from Inglewood, Rachael grew up with a dog and a cat and has always known that working in the animal industry is what she wanted to do.
Rachael is very passionate about horses and has also developed a keen interest in surgery since working at the clinic.
Rachael and her family still call Inglewood their home, which they share with their four cats - Shadow, Midnight, Fluff & Odin and three horses Drifter, Paris & Chief.


Lilli Igoe

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing)

Lilli started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2014.
She has completed her Cert IV Veterinary Nursing through Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE, in 2017!
Originally from Bendigo, Lilli has always known that veterinary nursing is what she wanted to do.
Lilli has been developing her nursing skills and has been working as a dog groomer since 2014.

Now qualified, Lilli is interested in pursuing her interest in emergency medicine and expanding her knowledge on wildlife.
Lilli lives locally with her two Miniature Schnauzers Sadie and Morris.

 


Rebecca Bright

Trainee Nurse (Currently Studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Rebecca started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2015.
She is currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing through Bendigo TAFE.
Originally from Ballarat, Rebecca moved to Bendigo to begin her veterinary nursing studies.
So far in her schooling Rebecca has been developing her nursing skills and has been working as a dog/cat groomer since 2015.
Hoping to be qualified in 2017, Rebecca is keen to pursue her interests in small animal pathology and wildlife, particularly birds.
Rebecca lives locally with her Terrier X, Molly and Eclectus Parrot Franklin.


Jayme Tully

Trainee Nurse (Currently Studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Jayme started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2016.
She is currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing through Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE.
Originally from Pinnaroo, SA, Jayme grew up on a camel farm, where her family began showing dogs. Having grown up with animals, Jayme has always wanted to work within the animal industry.
Having just started Jayme has starting to develope her nursing skills and has been working as a dog groomer since 2016.
Once graduated, Jayme would like to undertake a diploma in emergency & critical care and would like to work abroad.
Jayme lives locally and has a Papillon named Cody.


Hannah Diamond

Trainee Nurse (Currently Studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Hannah started working at Kangaroo Flat Veterinary Clinic in 2017
Originally from Ballarat, Hannah comes to us from a background in human nursing and is currently studying her Cert IV through Open Colleges.
Hannah is an experienced dog trainer and competes her dogs competitively, we are excited to welcome her skill set to the clinic.
Once qualified Hannah is keen to persure the behavioral aspects of the industry.
Hannah lives locally with her two Border Collies - Dee and Storm, and her Poodle Spike.
